Summary
of Dual-Career Services - Ann Gould and
Rudolph Bell, FPAC Co-chairs
Senate Vice Chair Martha Cotter assumed the chair while Senate Chair
and FPAC
Co-chair Ann Gould summarized the report, which was a response to the
FPAC having been
charged as follows:
Dual-Career Programs: Examine the desirability of establishing
a dual-career services program within Rutgers Human Resources in order
to
enhance the
ability of Rutgers to recruit and retain faculty and staff who may need
to
relocate to accept a position at the institution. Research
policies at
peer institutions that provide the accompanying partner with the tools
and
services to access resources for an effective job search and make
recommendations as appropriate.
Gould then called to the podium Dr. Natalie Batmanian, Director of
Rutgers'
Office
for the Promotion of Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics,
who spoke about her initiative in the context of dual-career programs.
Gould then read the report's recommendations, adding a new
Recommendation #2, as follows:
2.
The FPAC recommends that for the 2013-2014 academic year, the
administration, while preparing its proposal, coordinate with the
Office for the Promotion of Women in Science, Engineering and
Mathematics and its dual-career initiative.
Gould moved the report, so amended by the FPAC. Following brief
discussion, the report and its recommendations were adopted by the
Senate with few opposed.
