RUTGERS UNIVERSITY SENATE
STANDING COMMITTEE CHARGES
[Revised November 2008]

2. BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

Standing Charge: This Committee shall concern itself with all matters related to budget priorities, allocations and general planning, as provided in section 2.2.2. B of the University regulations. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

To select and study policy issues associated with the University's budget, including priorities and allocation of funds, and to develop recommendations to the Senate.

Historical Fact:  In the past few years RU Budget was rarely review and/or discussed in the Senate.

THE CURRENT REQUEST: to add to the BFC Standing Charge a specific request for an annual budget review.

Objective: To establish a new tradition of annual reporting from BFC to the senate regarding general budgetary issues and evaluations as it is (already) stated in the Standing Charge. This presentation should not be voted on nor be endorsed by the senate.
This will enable to bring to the front and center some of the important aspects of the RU budget.

The B&F Committee will form a (permanent) sub-committee that will deal with this topic year around. This selected issues will discussed in BFC during its first meeting in September and be presented to the senate in its second annual meeting.
