BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE
Standing Charge: This Committee shall concern itself with all matters
related
to budget priorities, allocations and general planning, as provided in
section
2.2.2. B of the University regulations. These responsibilities include,
but are
not limited to, the following:
To
select and study policy issues
associated with the University's budget, including priorities and
allocation of
funds, and to develop recommendations to the Senate.
Historical
Fact: In the past few years RU Budget was
rarely review
and/or discussed in the Senate.
THE
CURRENT REQUEST: to add to the
BFC Standing Charge a specific request for an annual budget review.
Objective:
To establish a new
tradition of annual reporting from BFC to the senate regarding general
budgetary
issues and evaluations as it is (already) stated in the Standing
Charge. This
presentation should not be voted on nor be endorsed by the senate.
This
will enable to bring to the
front and center some of the important aspects of the RU budget.
The
B&F Committee will form a (permanent) sub-committee that will deal
with
this topic year around. This selected issues will discussed in BFC
during its
first meeting in September and be presented to the senate in its second
annual
meeting.
