CHARGE TO THE UNIVERSITY SENATE NOMINATING PANEL
1. The Nominating Panel shall nominate one or
more candidates for each office. There may be additional
nominations from the floor.
2. Nominate candidates for the following
positions:
- One Senator for Chairperson
- One Senator for Vice Chairperson
- Six additional faculty Senators for the
Executive Committee
(One from Camden, one from Newark, one from New
Brunswick, one from Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, two
at-large)
- Four student Senators for the Executive
Committee
(One from Camden, one from Newark, one from New
Brunswick, one from Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences)
- One alumnus Senator for the Executive Committee
- One part-time lecturer Senator for the
Executive Committee
- One staff Senator for the Executive Committee
- Two Representatives to the Board of Governors:
- One student Senator
- One faculty Senator (must be on a
full-time faculty line)
Note: The Chairperson of the Senate is, ex
officio, the third BOG Representative.
- Four Representatives to the Board of Trustees:
- One undergraduate student Senator
- One graduate student Senator
- Two faculty Senators
3. In each case, prior consent of the nominee
must be obtained before being placed on the slate presented to the
Senate. [Note:
If you are not self-nominating, please consult with your nominee to
determine his or her willingness to become a candidate before making
the nomination.]
4. In preparing the slate, the Nominating
Panel shall consult with the Executive Secretary of the Senate, who
will serve as a non-voting, ex officio member of the panel.
5. The report of the panel shall be circulated
to members of the Senate-elect at least five days before a special
meeting of the Senate-elect to be held on April 27 for the purpose
of electing officers.
University Senators may nominate
candidates for 2018-2019 Senate officers and board representatives. The deadline for
nominations to reach the Senate
office is Noon on Monday, April 23, 2018. (Nominations may also be made from the floor
during the appropriate phase of the April 27, 2018 Senate meeting.)

OF THE ABOVE POSITIONS:
Please FIRST confirm with the person
you are nominating that he or she is willing to stand for election.
Self nominations are appropriate, and welcomed.
Then:

Executive Secretary:
1. Your name and the unit
you represent in the Senate
2. Whether you are a
student, faculty, alumnus, staff or administrator Senator
3. The NAME of the person
you are nominating
4. The POSITION for which
you are nominating that person
5. Whether your NOMINEE is
student, faculty, staff or alumnus
6. The reason(s) you
believe this nominee should be elected to the position. In most cases this will
be the self-nominee's "campaign statement," which will be published
along with the slate of candidates for the Senate's information.
