TEXT OF PRESIDENT McCORMICK'S DECEMBER 13, 2010 LETTER RESPONDING TO
SENATE REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON CHARGE S-0707 ON RUTGERS FUNDRAISING INCOME

I am pleased to respond to the Report and Recommendations on Charge S-0707 on Rutgers Fundraising Income, issued by the Budget and Finance Committee of the Rutgers University Senate, and adopted by the University Senate in May 2009.  I offer sincere thanks to the Senate Committee for its thoughtful, well-considered report.

At my request, Carol P. Herring, president of the Rutgers University Foundation and the university’s executive vice president for development and alumni relations, reviewed the report and its 10 recommendations and has compiled the attached set of responses.

I fully endorse these responses and trust that the Senate will find them satisfactory.  Ms. Herring stands ready to answer any questions that the Senate may have about the attachment.

As you know, Rutgers has just announced the public phase of a major capital campaign, which will strongly and very positively affect the future of the university.  I know and appreciate that I can count on the support of the Rutgers University Senate for the campaign.

Sincerely yours,

Richard L. McCormick
