Committee Reports:

Academic Standards, Regulations and Admissions Committee Response to Charge S-0807A on Add/Drop Period - [Note: This report is not yet complete, but is expected in final form by the end of next week. ASRAC Co-chair Martha Cotter will summarize at today's meeting.] The ASRAC has been charged as follows:

As follow-up to the ASRAC's March 2011 Response to Charge S-0807, Add/Drop Period, consider and make a final recommendation on what changes, if any, to the Add/Drop Period should be made permanent. Respond to Senate Executive Committee by January 2012.

Instruction, Curricula and Advising Committee
Response to Charge S-1105 on Audio-Visual Recording of Lectures and Presentations - The ICAC has been charged as follows:

Examine Rutgers’ position, policies, and practices on recording in-class, seminar, online, and other presentations. Recommend guidelines for the responsibilities faculty have for controlling such recording (e.g., related statements in syllabi), and for students who want to record these presentations.

Instruction, Curricula and Advising Committee Response to Charge S-1104 on Online Teaching Evaluations, and Best Practices in Evaluation of Teaching Performance [Link not yet active.] - [Note: This report is not yet complete, but is expected in final form by the end of next week. ICAC Chair Natalie Borisovets will summarize at today's meeting. The ICAC report will go to the Faculty and Personnel Affairs Committee for review and comment before it goes to the Senate for action.] The ICAC has been charged as follows:

Investigate best practices in the evaluation of teaching performance, in particular addressing the question of whether paper or online evaluation formats should be used and whether any appropriate safeguards can be put in place to make the use of whatever format or formats might be employed more efficient and accurate. Obtain data relating to changes in response rates and average evaluations since the adoption of online teaching evaluations. [Note: Faculty and Personnel Affairs Committee to review and comment on the ICAC report on this charge before it is docketed for Senate action.]

Potential Issue for Committee Charge: Rutgers Request for Proposal #1819 on E-Learning Technology Infrastructure and Administrative Support Services [Document will be distributed in hardcopy at the meeting.]
