• Rev. Dr. Paul Lachance, who chaired the University Senate from 1990 to 1992, died in January.
• Rutgers University Student Assembly (RUSA) Proposal to Increase Student Voter Turnout, and Resolution to Urge the Rutgers University Senate to Declare All United States Presidential Election Days as University Holidays
• Room, equipment, and setup charges at Rutgers student centers will increase by more than 100 percent on July 1, 2017.

Issues/Charges:

Revisions to University Policy on Political Activity, received from Kim Pastva, Secretary of the University - Peter Gillett has informed the Executive Committee that this policy is being revised. Discussion will focus on whether or how the Senate should participate in this revision.

Proposed Charge on Rutgers/IPEDS Campus Comparisons Report, May 2013 - Submitted by Michael Van Stine

Rationale: "The problem is it was a huge issue and it just died as far as I can tell. It is a 2013 report but if this was not addressed it is a continuing and compounding issue of substantial university and student impact. I do not believe there was any Senate action on follow-up on the report. . . and the appearance is that Newark and Camden students appear to be subsidizing NB students to the tune of 50% in all expense categories, with what appears to me to be a very questionable rationale. I wanted to discuss it just to know what was indeed done by the budget committee, if anything, and then gauge ExCom committee interest in the broader concerns. It seems to me to be as significant an issue begging proper research as any other of which we investigate and comment. What I wanted to propose after discussion is if indeed there was no concrete action taken by the Senate to look into the report metrics, that we consider a charge to just that to invoke some actual accountability."

Reports:

University Structure and Governance Committee (USGC) Response to Charge S-1404 on Revisions to University Policy Library - Jon Oliver and Robert Puhak, USGC Co-chairs

The USGC was charged as follows: Investigate the procedure for disseminating revisions to University Regulations in the University Policy Library, and make recommendations for improved communication within the University community. Consider to what extent the Senate, students, academic units, and other affected constituencies are informed of changes made to the University Policy Library.

Student Affairs Committee (SAC) Response to Charge S-1614 on Absentee Ballots in Special Student Organization Funding Referenda - Viktor Krapivin and Samuel Rabinowitz, SAC Co-chairs

The SAC was charged as follows: Investigate changing University Policy 10.3.3 on Funding for Special Student Organizations to allow for absentee ballots in referenda conducted based on that policy. Recommend revisions, as needed.

Charge-Deadline Extensions:

The Ad Hoc Video Committee requests a report-deadline extension to March 2017.
