Committee Reports:

[Expected soon. Link not yet active.] Student Affairs Committee Response to Charge S-0910, Accessibility of Student Services - The SAC had been charged as follows:

Charge S-0910 - Accessibility of Student Services: Examine the function of disability services support to determine the adequacy of resource allocation and awareness. This includes the review of the adequacy of physical resources, the availability of funds for outside services and required accommodation equipment and tools, and sources for increases in professional and support personnel. Recommend best practices to be implemented which would allow for the effective dissemination of information to faculty and staff to promote awareness so they may be a part of the solution towards providing accommodations and supporting this unique population of students. Respond to Senate Executive Committee by March 5, 2010.

Academic Standards, Regulations and Admissions Committee Response to Charge S-0905, Academic Integrity Policy - The ASRAC had been charged as follows:

Charge S-0905 - Academic Integrity Policy: Consider and critique the draft permanent Academic Integrity Policy prepared by the Ad-hoc Academic Integrity Committee. Provide comments, criticisms, and suggestions for changes to the Ad-hoc Committee on an ongoing basis. Report to the Senate on progress on developing a new policy by March 2010.

Issues/Charges:

Proposed Charge to Academic Standards, Regulations and Admissions Committee on Problems with AY2010 Fall Semester Start Date, as outlined in Emails between Ted Szatrowski, Arun Mukherjee, and Martha Cotter

Proposed Charge to Student Affairs Committee on Changing the Alma Mater, received from the Student Caucus: Explore and make suggestions for possible revisions to the current Rutgers University alma mater, "On the Banks of the Old Raritan".
Rationale:
The current Rutgers alma mater, "On the Banks of the Old Raritan", written in 1873, is not currently inclusive of all Rutgers students. In addition to being exclusively New Brunswick-centric, additional issues have been raised by the university community that the line, "And resolved that I should be a man" is also not inclusive or gender-neutral. Revised wording has already been adopted on the Camden Campus, according to some Camden students. The new wording makes the song's lyrics more inclusive, and the Student Caucus of the University Senate would like the issue of the alma mater reviewed by a Senate committee, with a focus on making the song inclusive of all Rutgers students and alumni.

Charge Extension Request: The Research, and Graduate and Professional Education Committee requests that the deadline for Charge S-0912, Online Courses in Master's and Professional Degree Programs be extended to April 2011. The RGPEC had been charged as follows:

Charge S-0912 - Online Courses in Master's and Professional Degree Programs: Review, discuss, and make recommendations on how Rutgers can best utilize online courses in master’s and professional degrees. Review the recommendation from the Senate Instruction, Curricula, & Advising Committee on hybrid courses. Evaluate the means by which online courses are set up, and suggest improved means for encouraging Rutgers departments and schools to take advantage of the availability of online, distance-learning, and hybrid courses. Respond to Senate Executive Committee by April 2, 2010.
