Thank you for sharing with me the "Resolution on Fee Structure for Full-Time University College Students," approved by the University Senate at its January 26 meeting.

I concur with the Senate’s recommendations and appreciate the careful consideration that has been given to this important issue. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to Joseph Naus, Michael Hamm, and other members of the Budget and Finance Committee for their hard work and attention to detail in bringing this matter before the full Senate.

It is my intention to share the Senate’s recommendations on UC student fees with the Board of Governors for possible action this spring. If all goes well, implementation of the Senate’s fee plan could begin as early as the Fall 2001 semester.
