TEXT OF MARCH 7, 2007 RESPONSE FROM PRESIDENT McCORMICK ON SENATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE’S APPROVAL OF THE EDUCATIONAL CONTENT OF NJPIRG STUDENT CHAPTERS’ PROGRAMS, AS OUTLINED IN ITS 2007 CONCEPT PLAN:

I received your memorandum noting Senate Executive Committee approval of the educational content of NJPIRG Student Chapters’ programs, as outlined in its 2007 Concept Plan.

Let me express my concurrence with your decision and my appreciation to the students for developing this excellent plan for civic engagement and public interest research and advocacy.  It is a wonderful reflection of the excellence of our students and their devotion to service.  My thanks to the Senate for acting favorably on the proposal.

Based on Senate approval of the educational value of the NJPIRG Student Chapters’ Concept Plan, I hereby approve NJPIRG to seek referenda authorizing the NJPIRG Student Chapters student fee.  Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Brian T. Rose will be the administrative liaison to NJPIRG Student Chapters and the University Senate for purposes of conducting the referenda under the applicable guidelines.

With best wishes.

Sincerely yours,
Richard L. McCormick
