President McCormick's September 18, 2008 Response to Report and Recommendations on Charge S-0408, Academic Integrity Policy Review

TEXT OF PRESIDENT McCORMICK'S SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 RESPONSE TO THE REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON CHARGE S-0408, ACADEMIC INTEGRITY POLICY REVIEW:

I am writing in response to the Report and Recommendations on Charge S-0408, Academic Integrity Policy Review, as adopted by the University Senate on May 2, 2008. The members of the Academic Standards, Regulations, and Admissions Committee have my appreciation for the time and attention they have devoted to this important issue.

My administration is pleased to accept the Senate's proposed Interim Academic Integrity Policy as recommended in the Senate report. The Interim Policy took effect on September 2, 2008 and will remain in place for a period of two years as the process to develop the permanent Academic Integrity Policy moves forward.
