TEXT OF TED SZATROWSKI'S REQUEST FOR RESPONSE
REGARDING AVAILABILITY OF NJ TRANSIT SUMMER OZONE PASSES IN NEW BRUNSWICK:

At the last University Senate meeting, I asked President McCormick about
Ozone Passes, why we had them in Newark for a number of years ago, and
in not in New Brunswick. I expressed the hope that Dr. Furmanski would
be able to shed some light on this issue at the May 12 NBDC meeting.
Unfortunately, when I asked Dr. Furmanski at that meeting on May 12, he
was not aware of this matter. I am hoping that we will have a positive
response from the administrative representative at the June 2, 2006
Senate Executive Council meeting. I have pasted below the short handout I
passed out at the NBFC May 12 meeting and also two emails from June, 2003
when I had tried to get some movement on this issue. I am hoping this
issue will be discussed at the Executive Council meeting this Friday.
Putting this issue off to next summer would be unfortunate. -ths

OZONE PASS-Offered at Rutgers Newark, but NOT offered to Rutgers New
Brunswick Employees!

To: NBFC Members Ozone-Passes-deep discount summer NJ Transit travel-at
Rutgers Newark for years, but NOT offered in New Brunswick. I asked
President McCormick about this in the Q&A of the last Senate meeting and
he said he would look into this-hopefully Dr. Furmanski will have good
news today about this program. Please support this measure which is
WIN-WIN for the Rutgers New Brunswick Employees. Please don't accept any
delays to another summer. -Ted H. Szatrowski, MSIS, RBS, former NBFC
rep., on leave.

5/10/06 email message: All Rutgers Newark Employees:

The hot and hazy days of summer will soon be here and with them will also
come the harmful affects of ozone pollution on our environment. To reduce
ozone pollution, NJ Transit and Rutgers Newark is once again offering
OzonePasses to employees to assist them in the statewide effort to reduce
the pollution in the environment. OzonePasses provide you the opportunity
to "try transit" instead of driving when high levels of ozone pollution
are predicted. May 15, 2006 - September 8, 2006, employees may use
OzonePasses to commute to and from work on any NJ Transit buses, trains,
or light rail systems.

Please contact DeAnna Adams at deannaa@newark.rutgers.edu if you or
someone in your department has an interest in the NJ TRANSIT OZONEPASS.

Passes are $1.25 one way and $2.50 round-trip. Ozone Passes are good on
Ozone Action or Health Watch Days on NJ Transit buses, trains and the
Newark City Subway. (Not good on trains operated by Metro-North)

OzonePasses are available at the Rutgers Business Office, third floor,
Blumenthal Hall, Parking/ID Service Window. You must return any unused
passes to the Business Office, Parking/ID Service Window for a refund no
later that September 8, 2006. LIMIT 6 PASSES PER WEEK
