CALL TO ORDER, DETERMINATION OF A QUORUM, AND CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT
(including instruction for Special Election for Faculty Representative

Summary of Procedure for Election of Faculty Representative to the Board
of Governors: This election is required due to the departure
from Rutgers of former faculty Senator Arlene Walker-Andrews, who was elected
Faculty Representative to the Board of Governors at the Senate’s May 2,
2003 meeting. Nominations for the position were solicited from the
Senate in August, at which time Senators were informed that statements
of candidates would be posted online for Senate review prior to this meeting,
and that there would be no nominations from the floor, nor speeches
by candidates. Paper ballots with spaces for write-in candidates
will be distributed to current Senators at sign-in at this meeting.
Chairperson Panayotatos will inform the Senate of the appropriate time
during the meeting to return the completed ballots. PLEASE

Questions and Answers - Please note that, in accordance with established
procedure, and to accommodate as many speakers as possible, speakers
are limited to one question each, and are asked to please limit their question
or comment to one minute or less, and to refrain from asking follow-up
questions. In formulating the agenda for this meeting, the Senate
Executive Committee agreed that, in this instance, Senators and non-senators
alike will be recognized in their order of appearance at the microphones.
