Text of President McCormick's
June 4, 2012 response to the Senate's Report and
Recommendations on Charge S-1003 on the Academic Calendar, Part 2:
Dear Mr. Swalagin:
I am writing in response to the Report and Recommendations on Charge
S-1003 on the Academic Calendar Part 2, as adopted by the University
Senate on April 27, 2012.
My administration is pleased to accept the Senate's recommendations to
retain the existing calendars for fall academic calendars for 2013,
2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and to revise the fall academic calendars for
2016 and 2022 in accordance with the Senate's recommendations. By copy
of this letter, I am notifying Chris Morrett, Director of Space
Management and Scheduling, and Don Smith, Vice President for
Information Technology, of the need to implement these changes. With
respect to seeking university input on academic calendar changes for
2015, 2020, and 2021, I suggest that the Committee contact the new
administration in the fall regarding placing this item on the agendas
of the appropriate administrative bodies.
I thank the members of the Academic Standards, Regulations and
Admissions Committee for their continued attention to this issue, and
for their ongoing consideration of changes to future academic year
calendars.
Sincerely yours,
Richard L. McCormick
