In response to the University Senate's Resolution on Best Practices
in the Assessment of Teaching and its recommendations for making the assessment
process more useful to individual faculty and departments, Dr. Seneca asked
Dr. Monica Devanas and Dr. Gary Gigliotti of the Teaching Excellence Center
to review the recommendations and advise me on the feasibility and implementation
of the proposals. I enclose their response in which they have carefully
analyzed the recommendations and suggested ways to implement them.
I strongly support these efforts to make the assessment process a more
useful one and thank the University Senate for their good efforts to improve
the teaching skills of the faculty and the classroom experience of the
students.
